INTENSIFIED MEDIUM | THERAPY IN BATHHOUSE
Graduate Proposition Studio
Fall 2015
Project Location: Ilsan, Korea
Individual Project
Instructor: Mary Ann Ray
Project Brief
“Intensified Medium” argues that a strong environment or mood fostered by architectural design is able to reset the unbalanced relationship between the normal people and the disabled people. This project is developed for a special institution for handicapped people. Bathhouse, as the place to accommodate multiple mediums, water, light, and earth, serves as the living, working, treatment and communal space for both disabled and normal people. Medium resets the atmosphere which offers the opportunity of enjoying the space equally. Largely embedded in the ground, the building takes the advantages of the site to the most.
